Story

When Sabrina and Phillip met, they would have never guessed that their small talk about music and Chuck Taylors would result in life full of happiness and love. Though it may have taken 3 months for them to run into each other again, their story was written the moment they met at a video shoot.

Sabrina, thinking he was handsome and kind, and Phillip being drawn to her red hair and spunk, they were bound to find each other one way or another. All it took was a prayer, a well timed pool party, and a bit of serendipity.

Now, they enjoy life in East Nashville with their big happy family of two poodles and three kittens. With their creative minds working together and loving each other, their story is just beginning…

Fun Facts

Q. What was your first date?
We actually went to see “X Men: Days of Future Past” for our first date. Fitting, Right?

Q. Who made the first move? How?
So that one is a bit tricky. Phillip was the one who asked me out, but that was after I invited him to a pool party we were having. After the third date, he was the one who kissed me with a bit of encouragement from Cole.

Q. What is the most memorable trip you have taken together?
That would definitely be the time Sabrina surprised me with a trip to Iceland for my birthday. The surprise was spoiled a bout a week before we left, but it was still one of the best trips we have ever taken. It was also made better by the thought behind it. Definitely the best birthday present I’ve ever gotten.

Q. What is your favorite activity together?
I think our favorite thing to do together would be going on walks. We always enjoy the fresh air and time spent together, especially when we bring the pups along. A close second would be naps.

Travel

What should I wear?

The event is semi-formal, but anything you want to wear we are sure will be ok. The bride requests you refrain from wearing a wedding dress, but if that's really all you have to wear, she prefers that to you going in your birthday suit.

How will I get there?

Houston station is a little tucked away in a building off of some railroad tracks, so be aware that it is a bit easy to miss! It will be in the general area of the old Sounds stadium off 8th. Here are some directions based on where you are coming from.

If you are heading North on I-65: Take exit 81 onto Wedgewood Ave. then turn right. You will then turn left onto Martin St about three blocks after the exit. Keep going until you see Houston St. then turn right and look for the Valet!

If you are heading south on I-65: Take exit 81 onto Wedgewood Ave. then turn left. You will then turn left onto Martin St about four blocks after the exit. Keep going until you see Houston St. then turn right and look for the Valet!

If you are coming from Downtown: Make your way to 4th street, then continue on 4th going south past the I-40 freeway entrance. Turn right onto Houston street just after the train tracks and look for the Valet!

Things to do in Nashville

Nashville is chalk full of activities! Some of our favorites include the Frist Art Museum, Cheekwood Botanical Garden, and going to see live music. Depending on what your taste in music is, here are some options. The Broadway honky-tonks offer a wide array of different cover bands, but they are mostly country music. If you want some blues, 2nd Ave. has BB Kings that has some great live blues music. If you are looking for some singer/songwriter music, The Listening Room is a good spot with some great artists playing original music. East Nashville venues such and The Basement East can offer some great alternative music from local indie artists. And of course there is food.

Our favourite restaurants

Some of our favorite restaurants include Chagos (Mexican), Tavern (Brunch), Acme (Brunch and live music), Edley’s (BBQ), Butcher Town Hall (Hearty, meat centered dinner), and PM (Thai, sushi, and a mean burger, also open late).

FAQ

Q. Will there be food?
Yes! Most definitely! We will have a BBQ buffet to give you a taste of some good southern cuisine. There will also be vegetarian options available.

Q. What time should we arrive?
The ceremony starts at 5pm, but we ask that you plan on being there at 4:30 in order to mingle before hand and get settled before everything starts.

Q. Will we have to dress for weather?
The venue will be indoors, so if it is raining the day of, you will remain perfectly dry in a climate controlled building, but be aware that this is May in Nashville. Weather can be unpredictable, so it is better to be prepared.

Q. Will there be drinks?
Yes, we will have an open bar! If you plan on taking advantage of the free booze, please plan travel arrangements accordingly, i.e. take a lyft, have a sober driver to take you home, or whatever you need to make it home safely after the reception. We are very fond of Lyft and there are plenty of drivers in the area to get you back home safely.
